Challenge: The dynamic project required highly sensitive design element, given environmental constraints such as steep topography, wetlands, and alluvial and riverine flood plain areas. In addition, we were charged with protecting and preserving adjacent farmlands. The owner/developer of the dramatic property engaged us to provide conceptual infrastructure plans, detailed designs, permitting assistance and construction services for the new community.
Solution: Our team approach and attention to detail during planning and design resulted in a subdivision layout that maximized owner values while preserving regulated areas and minimized the costs of infrastructure improvements. We worked creatively and cooperatively with local decision-makers to successfully extend community sewer services to this area of Douglas County that included over nine miles of sewer mains and four sewer-lift stations funded through public-private partnerships.
