Project: Roop Street

Client: City of Carson

Location: Carson City, Nevada

Description:
Site: Approximately one mile of Roop Street, a major collector street, from U.S. Highway 50 to Winnie Lane in Carson City, Nevada.

Challenge: The City of Carson engaged R.O. Anderson to perform the right-of-way survey and aerial control network for the Roop Street capacity project. In order to determine the existing right-of-way width available for the future widening of this existing major collector in Carson City, our team was required to work around congested traffic conditions in an urban setting to document historic property boundaries, areas of possession and available right-of-way. The historic nature of Carson City also required intensive deed research.

Solution: Through diligent research of recorded deed information, we were able to obtain and evaluate existing record of survey and boundary information. Thorough analysis of record information, as well as use of sound survey methodologies allowed us to resolve conflicts between historical records and “on-the-ground” ownership of the property. Additionally, we participated in multiple meetings with other survey professionals and staff at the Carson City Public Works Department to ensure accurate right-of-way acquisition documents.
