Project: Woodfords Community Park
Client: Alpine County
Location: Woodfords, California
Description:
R.O. Anderson is engaged by Alpine County Public Works Department to create a 2 acre native park site located at a highly used community center for the Woodfords Community of the Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California. Members of our firm met with Tribal Council Members and community members to discuss the project and its overall importance to the community and to obtain community feedback and revised plans to reflect legitimate concerns. We then prepared Construction Drawings for the implementation of the culturally significant park using native and culturally important design principals. The plan includes a 4,000 square foot community talking circle, ADA accessible pedestrian circulation, and the native revegetation of all disturbed areas.
Working closely with the Woodfords Tribe Community, the selected contractor, and Alpine County officials we were able to create a project which was able to meet the vision of the community while keeping the projects construction costs within budget.
